THE REVOLUTIONARY SONG

That the Revolutionary Song is a means, and a powerful means, of propaganda is a fact that could never be seriously contested.

All eras, all civilizations, all Peoples have had their Songs, in which they have expressed the sentiments that moved them, the passions that tormented them, the plans they formed, the hopes and fears that stirred them, the loves and hatreds that they nourished.

All the great currents that have forged, forge and will forge the History of Humanity have had, have and will have their songs, through which they assert themselves.

There is no Sect that has not had its canticles! No Nation that has not had its national songs! No great Idea that has not had its hymn!

The Social Revolution,—the prodigious upheaval that will crush the World of Misery and Authority to which we are subject under its immense effort and, on the ruins of that world, will build a World of Well-Being and Liberty,—is already rich and constantly enriches itself with songs that spread the truest Ideas and glorify the most general battles.

Such is the nurturing, fecund mission of the Revolutionary Song: calls for Rebellion against Lies, Iniquity, Exploitation, Ignorance, War and Authority; songs of ardent tenderness, rational Faith and unfailing Hope in the times of Truth, Justice, de Savoir, Peace and Liberty!

It is that expressive, deeply moving song that the reader will have the pleasure of finding in the pages that follow.
